Daniel Q. Callahan is a media professional, working in Louisville, Kentucky. Over the course of his career, he has worked in online, print, and broadcast, providing him a broad range of experience to fit almost any media need.
Daniel was born in the small town of Irvine, KY. Growing up, he was always fascinated by television and radio, and knew he would one day be a part of the broadcast industry. In 2000, he moved to Lexington, KY to attend the University of Kentucky. Three years later, he graduated a semester early with a Bachelor of Science in Telecommunications with a minor in Music Theory and History.
In December 2003, he started a six-and-a-half year career with Host Interactive Communications. During this time he helped expand online video coverage for college sporting events throughout the Southeastern Conference (SEC). He co-created two successful web series (“Today in the SEC” and “This Week in NCAA Football”), and even coordinated SECsports.com’s coverage of the 2007 SEC Men’s Basketball Tournament and the 2007 SEC Gymnastics Championship.
If that wasn’t enough, in August of 2004, Daniel joined the news team of WTVQ as a part-time tape editor. Here he edited daily news coverage from around Central Kentucky. Primarily, his focus was on “Good Morning, Kentucky,” the station’s morning show. While he enjoyed his time with WTVQ, he left in March of 2005, as his duties with Host Interactive were expanded.
When IMG purchased Host Interactive Communications in 2009, it was clear that lay-offs would soon follow. So, in June 2009, Daniel temporarily left the media industry to join Dealers’ Financial Services as an Auto Loan Contract Auditor. Here, Daniel helped active duty military personnel with bad or no credit get car loans. It wasn’t always easy, but Daniel was glad to give back, in some way, to those that proudly serve our country.
In 2012, a new opportunity relocated Daniel to Louisville, Kentucky. It was a refreshing return to the media industry, as he then became a Video Technician with DG. For two-and-a-half years he specialized in direct response media, helping distribute infomercials to over 500 TV stations across North America.
In February of 2014, DG was purchased by Extreme Reach. Integrating into the Extreme Reach team was easy for Daniel, as he got to put his knowledge of online media to use once again. After a few months, he transitioned out of the tape room and into a support role. Today, he helps clients from all over the world ensure their content gets delivered quickly, and correctly.
